Inventory Reorder Planner

Calculate suggested reorder quantities from on-hand stock, reserved units, and incoming inventory.

Setup

  1. Download the workflow JSON from this page (or use workflow.json from the builder package), then choose n8n's Import from File command.
  2. Provide one item per SKU with onHand, reserved, incoming, reorderPoint, and targetStock expressed as whole units. Run and filter the results where needsReorder is true before reviewing suggestedOrder with your purchasing team.
  3. Select Execute Workflow. The result is in ProcessData.

Behavior and limits

Accounts for reservations and confirmed incoming units, including backorders. Invalid or duplicate SKUs and negative/fractional units stop the run. Suggestions do not include lead-time forecasting, supplier minimums, or automatic purchasing.

The supplied example needs no credentials. Any additional integration you connect requires its own configuration and tests.

Verification

Imported and executed successfully in an isolated n8n 2.44.5 instance on 2026-10-22. The sample calculated normal stock, incoming stock, and backorder quantities correctly. Negative stock input was rejected.

Failures appear in the n8n execution view; this template does not send error alerts. Review the output before connecting downstream actions.
